Big Event a huge success!!

Castle model

Our big event took place on Wednesday 5th March at the stunning ballroom at the Royal Victoria Crowne Plaza hotel and we were delighted with the amazing turnout of c400 people on the night.

This was a celebration of our journey from our formation in 2012, to the present excavations which have finally revealed parts of the Castle remains, some never seen before and it was great to see so many people on the night who have been involved all the way through.

We were treated to 3 talks by Dr Dave Clarke on the myths, legends and history of the Castle, a full update on all the recent excavations by Ashley Tuck from Wessex Archaeology and Robert Hall from FoSC committee talked about the future aspirations for FoSC for more archaeology and a visitor centre.

Chair Martin Gorman hosted the evening, led the Q&A and provided thanks to Natasha Bramall from Wessex for helping organise the event, Sheffield Museums for bringing artefacts from past digs and to Parag Tawade and Hermann Beck for offering us the wonderful venue.

Many new members were signed up on the night and we were grateful for donations from others.

Take a look at some of the photos from the night in the ‘Gallery’ section of this website.

Thanks to all that came along, we hope you all enjoyed it!
