Planning permission has now been submitted for the development of the site and if you follow the link below, you will find all the associated documents…there are over 40 of them!
The excavation of the Gatehouse and Drawbridge Pier is part of this application and we are hopeful this will be approved and we will see this critical part of the Castle remains for all to see.
We are broadly supportive of these plans and would also stress, this is only the first phase of the project. Additional funds will need to be raised for the proposed Community buildings on the site and also for potential further excavations on the northern part of the site.
